Fairtrade Fortnight
Monday 22 February - Sunday 7
March 2009
Fairtrade Fortnight happens every year in
February/March, and is a chance to catch up on the latest Fairtrade
products and to hear about the difference Fairtrade makes to producers in
poor countries, often from the producers themselves. More details, and all
kinds of resources, are available from the Fairtrade Fortnight website
www.fairtrade.org.uk
One World Network Meetings
Three times a year, COWC's members and supporters meet to catch up on
what's been happening with campaigns and to hear about a particular issue
or aspect of COWC's work in more detail. Speakers may be from COWC, from
other campaign groups, from other groups in the area, or from other parts
of the world. In the recent past, speakers have come from Cumbria
Fairtrade Network, UNISON anti-racism campaign and a Nicaraguan
coffee-growers' co-operative. For more information, please contact COWC on
01228 546287.
Christian Aid Week
Christian Aid Week falls in May each year. Christian Aid's major themes
for awareness raising are:
· Climate Change
· Trade justice
· HIV/AIDS
· peace and justice in Palestine/Israel
COWC often arranges events to coincide with Christian Aid Week around
one or more of these issues. For more information about Christian Aid,
visit their website.

to highlight various global justice themes. Activities have ranged from
talks to Fairtrade food tasting to story-telling to cream teas to
ecumenical church services. For more information and to get involved, come

World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day falls on the 1st December every year, and is an
opportunity to stop and reflect on the impact that HIV/AIDS is having
around the world, and what we can do to alleviate the problems it
causes.
