2. Carlisle One World Book Trust Club
- Thursday 1st December
The Book Trust is still in existence although the books have moved
upstairs for now. We would like to invite you to our second Book Trust
event on Thursday 1st December at 11am at
The
Shambala Centre, Long Lane, Carlisle CA3 8TA. We will be
discussing The Spirit Level by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett.
Contact us if you need help getting a copy of the book or just come
along even if you haven't had a chance to read it. Happy reading!
3. Amnesty Conference - Sat 12th November
The Carlisle Amnesty Group is hosting the North-West regional conference
for Amnesty groups here in Carlisle on Saturday 12th November at the
Richard Rose Central Academy from 10am. COWC will be giving a
presentation and you will also have a chance to hear about women's
rights in Afghanistan. All are welcome to come along. Poster

4. Fairtrade Stalls in Carlisle Town Centre
The Carlisle Fairtrade Group and the Carlisle World Shop will have
two stalls at the Christmas Market in Carlisle on Thursday 24th to
Sunday 27th November. You can support us by either volunteering on one
of the stalls or by baking Fairtrade Christmas bakes for the Fairtrade
stall. One of our volunteers has kindly made Fairtrade mincemeat which
you can get from the shop free of charge to make mince pies. For more

5. Christian Aid Cathedral
Service and Procession Tuesday 29th November
The Carlisle Christian Aid Group is working with 10 schools and one Cub
group on a Mosquito Net project this year which will culminate in an
exhibition at Carlisle Cathedral and their annual Advent Celebration
Service which will take place from 7pm Tuesday 29th November. All are
welcome to come along to this service which will start with a parade
from The Lanes at 6.45pm. The exhibition will be on display from the
26th November to the 2nd December.
