Become a supporter
All of our work depends on the generosity of our supporters and grant-giving bodies. By making a regular donation of £12 (6 unwaged) or more per year, our supporters help ensure the future of our work. As a supporter you also receive thrice-yearly newsletters, invitations to meetings and the opportunity to join in shaping our future direction.

Volunteer
We are always happy to receive offers of help with campaigning, administrative work, resource loans, displays and events. We are also keen to hear from anyone interested in serving on the management committee. Experience and knowledge are very welcome, but enthusiasm is more important!

Join in with campaigns
One of the most important aspects of our work is campaigning on global issues, to improve the lives of the poorest people, both in Britain and around the world. If you have a passion for Fairtrade, human rights, global trade justice, equality, tacking prejudice or any other issue you think fits with our mission, we want to hear from you! We will refer you to one of the local campaign groups

More Volunteers required to join the Fairtrade Steering Group
Carlisle has had Fairtrade city status for over 3 years now but the Fairtrade movement is growing from strength to strength. Contact COWC if you are interested in coming on board!

Christian Aid
As well as providing money for development and for disaster relief, Christian Aid also campaigns with other organisations for fair trade. Postcards to the Prime Minister supporting fair trade, as opposed to free trade, will be in many churches, and will also be available at the World Shop. The Carlisle Christian Aid Group is supported by Churches Together in Carlisle, and also has a close association with COWC. For the past few years, Agnes Herbert has coordinated Christian Aid Week, and although now living is Portsmouth, is still helping with the book sale. We are reviving a small Christian Aid Steering Group for the Carlisle area, to provide wider support to local churches and generally promote and develop Christian And work. If you are interested in joining the Steering Group, or helping Christian Aid generally, do contact Doug Scott ([email protected] or 016974 73556)
