COWC FOOD VOUCHER SCHEME
The Food Voucher scheme is run by one of COWC's volunteers. The aim of the scheme is to provide hot meals for vulnerable people in the central Carlisle area. We have secured funding to give a
voucher to the value of £7 to people in emergency need to take to a local cafe or takeaway or a hot meal.
There are several cafes and takeaways taking part in the scheme. Vouchers can also be bought for giving out by other agencies.
The Fairtrade City Steering Group has played a leading role in the successful campaign to make Carlisle a Fairtrade City since March 2005. A team of dedicated volunteers oversees the running of
this campaign and the renewal of Fairtrade city status every two years awarded by the Fairtrade Foundation. Since 2010 a Fairtrade Coordinator supports this team and has recently secured the
second successful renewal of Carlisle’s Fairtrade status
